As a teenage girl, I suffered from eczema on the inside of my elbows and my neck and face. This led to countless visits to doctors, who prescribed the usual: cortisone cream.
While this helped temporarily, I quickly needed to go onto the next strength cream and onto the next, causing my skin to become paper thin and discoloured.
Obviously the last thing a young girl would want!
While I tried diets, herbal supplements, homeopathy and various treatments, the issue of itchy and inflamed skin was still present. Applying cream throughout the day was an obligation, as anyone with eczema would tell you.
I was constantly searching for the next cream which would soothe my sore skin without the nasty side-effects. While I did find some ‘nice’ creams, they needed reapplication throughout the day and didn’t do much in ways of healing.
An acquaintance of mine at the time mentioned she had tried a South Korean cream which helped heal her eczema. Immediately intrigued, I set about to find this ‘magical’ cream.
Not anywhere to be found except on eBay (dodgy!), I caved and bought a ridiculously priced cream all the way from South Korea and started the long wait on its delivery.
True to the fact it was an overseas item, it arrived 30 days later. I opened it like a kid opening a sweet packet!
I prayed that this might actually be it, and boy was my prayer answered. After one application, my skin felt soothed, wrapped up in a healing herbal hug. My eczema calmed down immediately and within a few days, looked healthy again.
I couldn’t believe it, and I was ecstatic!
Only problem was I had run out by the time I even placed a new order, and had to wait another month. I calculated I would need to be buying a 50ml tub every week at this rate and, well, that was just unrealistic on my after school job wage.
Alas, back to the readily available Cereve, E45, Aveeno and cortisone cream.
Years later, the thought never left me: ‘What if I could bring South Korean cream to the UK? Make it affordable and available to more people like me?’. I thought the worst case scenario was that I’d import my fist shipment, not sell anything and get to keep it all to myself… ^^
But that didn’t happen. I soon realized the competition in the UK were others who were taking advantage of the fact they didn’t actually have competition and pricing the skincare however high they wanted. I thought about my situation when I needed that skincare the most, and felt it was unfair.
Thus, UNBLEMISH was born. The service I try to provide is what I would’ve dreamed existed as that broke teenager. I try to send parcels that I would’ve loved to receive: Affordable, quick and thoughtful.
